Overview

KeyEcho plays sampled sounds for global key-down and key-up events. Its privacy policy says an event is used to choose a sound and then discarded without recording or sending typed content; first launch requires Input Monitoring permission. The free, open-source app includes free packs, while optional Crafted Packs are paid one-time purchases. The publisher says the app checks an update manifest at launch, fetches the pack catalog, streams previews, and contacts its service for license checks, purchases and restores; purchase records involve an email/license key and Stripe. The terms scope AGPL-3.0 to the app source and binaries; paid sound packs are separately licensed and may not be redistributed. The current download page offers macOS DMGs for Apple Silicon arm64 and Intel x64 but states no minimum macOS release. The packages and runtime behavior were not independently tested.
